Our Story
From Classroom
to Community
HatchJa began as a Graduate Studies social entrepreneurship initiative at Excelsior Community College. A team of students asked one question: how can a school feed itself?
The answer: layer poultry. Eggs are affordable to produce, nutritious, and generate surplus income that funds everything else. We're building this from the ground up โ and we need partners to make it happen.
Finalising partnerships, collecting sponsor commitments, building the team.
Securing materials, layer birds, construction supplies, and agricultural equipment.
Construction of the poultry pen, installation of feeding and lighting systems.
Breakfast programme begins. HEART/NSTA training cohort opens. Community egg sales start.
